Music Courses Descriptions
All music courses are taught with high quality Yamaha's Conservatory models C series grand pianos. To achieve the most progress, we recommend attending one to three lessons each week and avoiding extend interruptions. All courses can be taught in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin upon request, scheduled in advance.
Students of any age and ability level are instructed to play piano, with a focus on major composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, Dvorak, Saint-Saens, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Rubinstein, Shostakovich, Schumann, Czerny, Hanon, Bayer, Thompson, Bouguer Muller, Lemon, Cramer , Moszkowski, Clementi, Bartok, Stravinsky, Lutolawski, Debussy, Ravel, Copland, Shapero, Bernstein, Arlen, Gershwin, Irving, and so on.
Violin lessons can be taught in the Suzuki music education method, traditional conservatory teaching method, or combination of both. Students will be able to learn all aspects of violin technique, including bow grip, bowing fundamentals, playing position, instrument position, left hand position, fingering, vibrato, timbre, dynamic, rhythm, tempo, tuning, and the major repertoire from all music time periods, including Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and the Modern Period.
Guitar Lessons are tailored to the student's interests and requests. Our versatile faculty teach a variety of musical styles from classical to folk to popular to jazz music and corresponding performance skills.
Students learn to write pieces in various genres, including art songs, chorals, solo piano pieces, string quartets, chamber music, orchestral music, concertos, symphonies, and operas. Students need to be familiar with all types of instruments as well as their writing techniques, including all Western instruments and Chinese traditional instruments.
Ludwig van Beethoven (Composer and Pianist)
Upon hearing the opening notes to Beethoven's 5th Symphony, one begins to understand the enormous significance of this master's work, which continues to shape the world today. Born in 1770 in Germany and died in 1827 in Austria, throughout his life Beethoven produced a body of work, including nine major symphonies and thirty-two piano sonatas, which remains the gold standard for musical excellence. Beethoven Piano Lessons was founded to continue this traditional of excellence on a local level, which we hope our graduates will spread throughout the world.
Wendy (Chief Instructor)
Wendy is a Chinese-born U.S.-based award-winning classical pianist, violinist, music educator, and composer whose work fuses a multitude of global styles to contribute to a responsible globalization of civilizations, unified by the universal love and innovative language of music. She is an accomplished musician with expertise in Western and traditional Chinese instrumentations and culture and years of teaching from graduate level musicologists to novice pianists and violinists. She is affiliated with several professional organizations on the local and national levels.
