Reviews
This is one of my favorite sushi places in boston. they have a huge menu and so many different options. brown, multigrain, and white rice options available also. a personal favorite is the luxury role. the staff is always very friendly. ive been here a few times, usually on slower days, and theyve given me complimentary desert with the meal also...such a fun treat!

In general, its a pretty typical sushi place, but i think im particularly fond of this place because of the hospitality and the options. its definitely worth a try if you havent been here.

The best sushi I've had in Boston. We usually take the Sashimi platter, and the fish are always fresh and exceptionally good. Plus, they have the option of making all the rolls with multi-grain rice, which is an interesting variation from the regular white rice.

The service is very fast. Too fast, actually. Sometimes they come to clear the table when we are still working on the food. Or else, they hover around you, ready to sprint in to action as soon as you finish the last bite. I took off one star because of this. It is not the place to go and have a long and leisure meal. I always get the feeling they are in a rush for us to leave.

I'm afraid to give this place a fantastic review because I like being able to walk in without a reservation on a Friday night, buuuut Genki Ya deserves it.

BIG, gorgeous pieces of sashimi. Lots of unique rolls with solid amounts of fish. And all at a very good price.

Watch out sitting at the bar towards the left because the waitresses will reach over your head every minute to get prepared dishes made by the sushi chefs in front of you.

Food was fresh and I liked the nicer-than-usual chopsticks. The shrimp tempura with spicy tuna was tasty. Service was good and at the end of the meal they gave us a free dessert. Not sure if that's normal or not, it was some bean, green tea ice cream & tapioca thing. I didn't really care for it, but it was a nice touch!
